What Blyp is

Blyp records your screen from a Chrome extension and stores the recording on Blyp's servers so you can edit it and share a link. This page says exactly what leaves your computer, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.

What is recorded, and only while you record

• The tab, window or screen you chose, as video, and its sound when you record a tab.
• Your microphone, as a separate audio track, whenever you record. The camera is separate again, and only when you turn it on.
• Your clicks and cursor position on the recorded page, with a short label for each click (the text of the button or link, or the page title). These become the zoom keyframes and chapter names. Nothing is logged in tabs you are not recording, and nothing is logged when you are not recording.
• The size, frame rate and codecs of the capture, and one still frame for the card picture.

Blyp does not read the pages you visit, your browsing history, cookies, or the contents of pages you are not recording.

Your account

You sign in with Google. Blyp keeps your name, email address and picture, and a Google account identifier. It does not ask for access to Drive, Gmail, or anything else in your Google account. The extension keeps a Blyp sign-in token on your computer so it can upload; nothing else is stored there.

Where it is stored

Recordings are stored in Blyp's own object storage, encrypted at rest, and reached only through signed links that expire within minutes. Your edits are a small text record in Blyp's database; the video file itself is never rewritten. Account data and the interaction log live in Blyp's database, hosted by Neon in the United States; the app itself runs on Vercel, also in the United States.

Captions

To write captions, the microphone track of a recording is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for transcription and the text comes back to Blyp. This happens automatically for each Blyp with a voice track, within your plan's monthly count. Cloudflare's terms do not let it keep the audio or use it for anything but producing the transcript. If captions are not available on your plan or not configured, nothing is sent.

Sharing

A share link plays for anyone who has it, unless you set a password or an expiry. Viewers need no account. Blyp records that a view happened and how long was watched. For a viewer who is not signed in, that is keyed to a random token the share page keeps in that browser's storage, hashed with the link; it identifies nothing but that browser to that Blyp, cannot be turned back into a person, and lets the owner see a count; for a signed-in viewer it is tied to their account, which is what puts the Blyp under Watched by me in their library. Viewers can leave comments and reactions under a name they type; those are stored with a salted hash of the poster, never a raw address, to limit abuse.

Email

Blyp sends two kinds of email: one to the person you share a Blyp with, at your request, and one to you when someone watches yours, if that switch is on in your account. There is no marketing list.

Deleting

Deleting a Blyp deletes its video, camera and microphone files, its picture, its edit and its transcript, and every link to it stops working within minutes. Deleting means deleting: there is no copy kept for Blyp to hand to anyone. Deleting your account deletes every Blyp in it the same way.

Who else sees it

Blyp uses Cloudflare for storage and transcription, Anthropic to write a Blyp's notes from its transcript (the transcript text is sent, never the footage), Vercel to run the app, Neon for the database, Google for sign-in, and Resend to send the emails above. None of them may use your data for anything but providing that service to Blyp. If you pay for a plan, PayPal handles the payment and Blyp never sees your card. The site counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookie and records no personal data: a page, a referrer, a country and a device type, nothing that identifies you. The only cookie is your sign-in session, and the only other thing kept in a browser is the share page's view token above. Blyp does not sell data and shows no advertising.
